The Project

Pacific Institute of Performing Arts (PIPA) third year students from the Bachelor of Performing Arts program are taking on an exciting new journey!

As part of our learning of Pacific Indigenous cultures, our Kumu Hula Aulii Mitchell has extended his aloha and has invited us to take part in a cultural exchange. Hawaii is calling and we PIPA students are carving our waka and gearing up for what will be an epic voyage. As in the epic saga of Pele and Hi'iaka (Hawaiian sister deities), the journey won't be easy but still such an opportunity will only be approached with care, love and no one left behind.

This Hawaii project will involve a 10-day cultural exchange in October. This will include dancing in the Ka Mau Pono Festival on Oahu as well an outer island trip to the Big Island of Hawaii to honor the sacred volcanoes and exchange in our unique Pacific cultures with Kua o Ka La Public Charter School in the district of Puna.

We feel this is an ideal opportunity to deepen our understandings of the Hawaiian culture and re-establishing our ancient connections to its people.

WE HUMBLY ASK FOR YOUR SUPPORT BY DONATING ANY AMOUNT TO THIS CAMPAIGN. EVERY DONATION COUNTS.

We are excited and honoured to take part in this journey where we will be representing all of our cultures and ancestors.

Nga Mihi and Mahalo!
