Paper Jam
Imaginaries Theatre | Theatre
Overview
Wellington theatre company, Imaginaries Theatre are seeking help to fund New Zealand Sign Language interpreters for their upcoming show!
Help us make theatre more accessible in Wellington!
About PAPER JAM
PAPER JAM is a new show coming to the 2022 Six Degrees Festival at BATS Theatre in January. Exploring a surreal and hilarious world where a childhood imaginary friend returns to shake up the adult life of an office worker.
With a strong focus on accessibility, we are hoping to open our production up to a wide range of audiences through integrated audio description and NZSL interpreters.
Your support is needed
With this Boosted campaign, we are raising $1500 to pay for two NZSL interpreters to interpret our show for one night. Interpreting is a hard job and so having two present will ensure they get frequent breaks and will be there to support each other during the show, ensuring the best work possible for our audience members.
Our values: Accessibility and Environmental Sustainability
We believe theatre is for everyone, and the way we present our show should reflect this. According to the 2013 Disability Survey, almost 1 in 4 New Zealanders are disabled.
Our show will have integrated audio description, as well as:
- NZ Sign Language Interpreted Performance
- Relaxed performance (for anyone who finds it difficult to follow the normal conventions of theatre, eg. Sitting quietly).
- A touch tour of set and costumes.
To ensure that our show is being kind to the planet, all sets, costumes and props are made from recycled materials and/or will have a life beyond this season of the show. Any waste created by the team will fit into one small jar!
About Imaginaries Theatre
Imaginaries Theatre is headed by Anna Barker, Belinda Campbell and Rebekah de Roo, three Masters of Fine Arts students at Te Heregna Waka, Victoria University of Wellington.
