OI FRED!

Kia ora! Humble Cowboy Productions (Tom, Tane, Gisele, Cypha, Shan) are seeking funding for the OI FRED! world premiere season. In order to put the final nail in the coffin, we are raising some money so we can be sure that the show is going to stand upright… and not wonky.

SYNOPSIS:

What if you had a second chance to say goodbye?

A grandson suspects things are awry in his grandparent's messy basement workshop when his late grandfather’s spirit begins teaching him carpentry from across the void. The master craftsman and weedy student don’t see eye to eye at their first meeting. However, the pair grow closer, catching up on the 16 years they have been apart. However, the portal to the afterlife can only remain open for so long…

WHY THIS SHOW RIGHT NOW?:

OI FRED! Is a solo piece devised by emerging artists; Tane Te Pakeke-Patterson (Director) & Tom Webster (Writer & Performer) that touches on what it would be like to speak to a long-lost family member across the void, whilst still assessing the absence of an individual in our lives.

Soundtracked by the dusty record collection of Kiwi yesteryear, OI FRED! is equally hilarious and absurd as it is moving and heart-warming. A story about connection to family in the aftermath of covid where we have spent so much time away from loved ones.

The piece is extremely personal for Tom, Tane & Gisele as all have lost loved ones within the last 18 months. They want to explore in a play the possibility of speaking to those special people one last time.

HOW CAN YOU HELP?

As young artists, we are seeking to make work and get it out into the world to tell stories and give folks a good time. However, we still require a little bit of a leg up in order to get this show on the road.

As the production is being made on a shoestring budget, we are asking for donations to help with personnel charges, music rights, marketing, and rehearsal spaces.

We would be absolutely chuffed if you could help us reach our goal, even a donation of around $10 dollars can help us get on the right track. You can donate by following the links on this page.
