NZ National Champions take on Dance Worlds

The Project
MEBA is one of NZ's leading dance schools and the MEBA senior jazz troupe will proudly represent NZ at the USASF Dance Worlds in Florida, April 2017.
We are an elite group of dancers who are incredibly excited to be taking our passion for dance to a global stage. We are New Zealand champions and 2016 winners of the Dancebrandz Auckland Regional competition, Dancebrandz Nationals and the troupe section at the National Young Performer Awards where we competed against 40 other troupes from all around New Zealand.
The opportunity to be part of Dance Worlds is enormous for each and every one of us. We will compete against more than 3500 dance athletes from 40 countries as we contest world champion titles in senior and national divisions. The scale of this competition is huge. It will see us grow as dancers and allow us to showcase the high quality of New Zealand dance to the rest of the world.
Our friends, families and supporters will be able to see us perform in Orlando via live streaming of the event by USASF. We are delighted that the people who are supporting us can be part of our journey at the competition.
To prepare for Dance Worlds, we will train in LA for a week prior to the competition. There we will work with leading professionals at major commercial dance studios to perfect our three competition performances. We will also use this time to gain new skills and experiences that we will bring back to New Zealand as we continue to develop our dance careers here.
Our team is made up of 21 girls aged between 13 - 20 years. We all train in ballet, jazz and contemporary and, while we have goals for professional careers in dance or related fields, right now we are all still at school or involved in tertiary study.
It is going to cost around $100,000 to fly our team of dancers to LA and Orlando, accommodate us and cover our uniform and costume costs. We have been fundraising hard and training hard over the past few months - but we really need some help with funding the LA part of our trip. We would love your support and would be very grateful for any help you are able to give us - as we take on Dance Worlds!
