No Post on Sunday
Everybody Cool Lives Here | Theatre
Overview
Everybody Cool Lives Here is proud to present this electrifying new play, from the minds of a team of emerging artists, three of whom were born with intellectual disabilities. These young performers were stand-outs in Wake Up Tomorrow and are pumped to get back on stage!
No Post on Sunday will charm audiences with the story of the colourful characters of a classic kiwi neighbourhood. Meet Wendy Stanley (Nick Smith), a regional reporter whose marriage to the town clown David Stanley (Duncan Armstrong) is unique, to say the least. Harry (Jacob Dombroski) a local postie by day, transforms when the stars come out into 'Fundungo' the local lothario who's dance moves rival Justin Bieber's.
No Post on Sunday is devised (collaboratively created/writen), led by Show Director Isobel MacKinnon (Best Director NZ Fringe 2015). Our team is about to head back into a month long process that will see emerge one of the most exciting theatre experiences of the year.
Everybody Cool Lives Here sees this project as the beginning of developing a profesional tour-ready show. We plan to tour New Zealandly in 2017/18, engaging with communities to begin to change perceptions around this new generation of disabled peoples.
Last year's spectacular Wake Up Tomorrow, received six NZ Fringe Festival awards including Best in Fringe, Best Ensemble, Best Director, Best Production Design & Outstanding Actor for the 120 plays presented. Our collaboration with Active was New Zealandly recognised at the 2015 Arts Access Aotearoa Awards winning their Community Partnership Award.
