No Lights No Lycra

The Project
We all go a little wilder when we think nobody is watching. No Lights No Lycra sheds light on the transformative power of dancing in the dark.
In a sleepy Auckland suburb large numbers of shower-singing, lounge-lunging individuals unite every Monday night for an hour of intense free dancing in the dark.
As the queue waits patiently outside Grey Lynn Community Centre there is no sign of whats' about to happen but when the lights go off and the doors are locked the atmosphere is electric.
In a vacuum of light they lose their inhibitions and cast of their social masks, free from the pressure to conform. Transformed by the power of dance the sweaty, elated crowd burst out the door into the fresh night air, laughter and steam pouring out with them.
Our short film follows a first-timer's experience as he joins this community of closet exhibitionists to give freedom to his 'wild side.'
We are proud to have 'No Lights No Lycra' selected for Loading Docs 2015.
If we can reach our target of $2000.00 Loading Docs will match this dollar for dollar. Help us raise more than that and we can get a second camera on board and do something magical in the edit suite to really enhance your experience.
Every little bit counts, so we thank you for your support!
