Overview

Your help is needed to turn the NIU - Maori Oracle Cards into a Physical Handbook (Voices of our Ancestors, He Tangata Matauhi).

The reason for raising funds through Boosted… is to revise, update and add new content to the NIU Maori Oracle Card’s ebook, then publish as a physical handbook. All funds raised will go directly into covering book printing and associated campaign fees.

My hope…

is to inspire those who are experiencing the NIU cards to help tautoko me with this journey so it can become a reality. I believe a physical version of the guide would be a valuable and important resource for those who work in the spaces of healing and well-being. Any koha would be very much appreciated.

Download the NIU ebook …

The 394 page self-published NIU ebook was specifically created to accompany the 56 NIU Maori Oracle Card deck. As part of the NIU Māori Oracle Card package, I offer the ebook as a free download via Google Play, iBooks (Apple Books), and as a PDF flip book on my website.

The book is also available on Amazon Kindle for around $3. Feel free to download the NIU ebook from any of these platforms to learn more about the kaupapa of the cards.

Why print a Handbook? …

So many of my customers have requested a physical copy over the years and I have always said no as the time, energy and pūtea involved is just too huge. However, over the last year I have focused on selling the NIU cards predominantly to healing and health practitioners. Positive feedback from them about how the cards are impacting others has motivated me to print the book. My aim is to tautoko and enhance their mahi by offering this tangible resource.\

Some examples of the spaces the NIU cards are being utilised are through: healing wananga; rongoa practitioners; abuse groups; counselling, social, and youth services; mid-wives and nurses, and many more.

The updated and revised edition with new content…

Will contain the additional Te Takarangi card and meaning which I designed and created back in early 2020. Te Takarangi is known as 'the double spiral of creation' and the 'cosmic whakapapa'. You can view her full meaning on my website, just scroll down the page - Te Takarangi.

I also intend to include my interpretation of the Kundalini meditation technique called Poutama Atuatanga; The Nurturing Pathway, which I self-published in 2019. Viewed through a Māori cultural perspective, it basically moves through the seven Chakras of the body via six Atua Wāhine NIU cards - Papatūānuku (base); Hina (Sacrum); Hine-nui-te-pō (navel); Hine-pū-te-hue (heart); Hine-ahu-one (throat); Hinengaro (between the eyebrows); Wairua (crown).

This is a valuable Maori resource in its own right, whether or not you are interested in oracle cards.

The size of the new NIU book…

Will be approximately 16 x 22.5 cm (similar to A5), containing 250 pages. I plan to print 500 copies which will be printed in New Zealand.

Augmented Reality is attached to some of the card images, which is via the ARTIVIVE app. With more videos developing over time, people will be able to view and experience another dimension to the cards.

This is a one-off fund raising venture… which is why we need you!

If the campaign does not reach its target goal, it is unlikely I will try other avenues to print a physical copy. Apart from my husband’s invaluable support, I am essentially the only person who drives everything behind my mahi - from being the creator to social media; website; admin; sales and computer whizz person … everything! I am realising as I move into my later years, time is truly precious. There is just not enough time to bring to life all of my creative ideas.

Thank you for your support.
