Next of Kin

SYNOPSIS

When Ellie finally returns to her childhood home, she hopes to heal the tension and disconnection conjured into her life since the moment of her father’s illness. As she sits on the verandah of the familiar grounds, Ellie finds herself engulfed in a paralysing grip of apprehension, fearing the inevitable farewell.  Swarmed by unhealed memories, and brewing tension from her sister Jamie, Ellie has to dig deep to say her meaningful goodbye, before it’s too late.

OVERVIEW

Next of Kin, is a story that is drawn from personal experiences of disconnection, grief and loss, rendering the contrasting paths people take in coping with the weight of these emotions.

As the end of our academic journey at Massey University looms nearer, our crew of passionate creatives are excited and determined to get out into the industry. Leaving our school with a Major in Screen Arts.  

The short film Next of Kin will be our Major Project for our final semester at Massey University.
