Overview
My Father, my Son is about a young Greek Cypriot-New Zealand man called Christos who was born in New Zealand and lives in present day Nelson-Tasman New Zealand.
Young Christos rejects his Fathers’ expectations of being a model Greek-Cypriot son. He must overcome the internal conflict that disconnects him from his Greek heritage which is unattainable for him as it was for his Father. His father Kiriakos, a shoemaker born in New Zealand to Greek-Cypriot parents projects his childhood experiences onto his son, who cannot connect to his father’s roots as well as finding himself in an identity crisis.
