Music Video for Bernie Griffens Burial Ground

Bernie Griffen & The Thin Men are rolling up their sleeves and calling on YOUR HELP to produce a music video for Bernie's song Burial Ground! If we all pitch in, we can create a beautiful and cinematic video showcasing the quality of New Zealand folk music, allowing Bernie to take it overseas in 2016 to connect him with his fans. We can't do it without you.

Bernie Griffen is a NZ folk/country musician who has a small but strong following here. Bernie is growing prominence overseas, as seen by the 20-30k downloads of his podcast each week (bFM - Border Radio), and in the wide diversity of fans interested in his music. Today Bernie is 65 and in his own words 'has no time to lose' in connecting with his fans and tapping into the larger numbers of folk/country fans overseas. This music video will help to achieve this, and will enable him with promotional material to book shows for his 2016 Australia/European Tour.

Burial Ground has deeply personal roots, reminding us of the darkness that we can feel when we have been used and abused. Its vision of revenge and mortality are powerful themes, which lends itself well to a compelling visual narrative. This is an important story that isn't told enough, which is why we're taking it to the people to fund it to fruition. Please throw us some coin!

Our vision for the music video is to juxtapose a live performance of Bernie & The Thin Men, against the cinematic journey of a dishevelled drifter as he drags a coffin across the Hauraki Plains towards a brutal conclusion of rebirth. The style we envision is to create a dust-bowl environment while paying homage to southern-gothic and acid-western references, which isn't often done in New Zealand but we feel it's the right fit for Burial Ground's forboding themes.
