Music for Teens
Kathleen Heath | Music
The Project
Music has long been recognised for its benefits both cognitively and socially. Learning an instrument helps increase confidence, improves brain development, enhances creativity and coordination, and creates an overall feeling of accomplishment and wellbeing.
Why am I raising funds?
Many teens only have access to music lessons during school hours. But without extra support and time to learn outside of school, they quickly lose interest.
I want to support young people aged 12-18 who want to learn to read music; applying their learning so they can play and create their OWN music. And I want to remove the barrier that location sometimes presents by bringing workshops to their local area.
Where will your support go?
Your generous support will enable the success of this initiative and allow me to fund 4-6 new or secondhand keyboards.
Any additional funding received will go towards:
- Hall hire
- Printing sheet music
- Other resources to support our youths' learning.
These weekly sessions will give students the tools and confidence to improve their NCEA music grades or just enjoy music in their own time outside of school.
Your support will help bring these workshops to life. Thank you so much for any donation!
