Overview

The New Target:

If we reach our $75,000 new target we can confidently complete the film to the high standard we have always been striving for. Ms. Information is a labour of love for the director and producers. This additional funding would go directly into the film meaning we can use first rate archive and pay highly skilled technicians at least something nearer their worth.  We know how good this film can be, post-production and archive are expensive but with your support Ms. Information will pack the punch we envision.

Thank you Ms. Information Whānau - we are so grateful.

Please keep spreading the word.

Pink-haired, polarising and pissing people off.

A feature documentary by Gwen Isaac. Produced by Phillida Perry and Alex Reed.

In March 2020 Gwen found herself in the house of non-conforming microbiologist Siouxsie Wiles. Seeing a pandemic about to hit her adopted country, Siouxsie stepped into the public eye and spoke out to keep New Zealanders science-informed.

Ms. Information is the resulting documentary feature! The team followed Siouxsie's story over two unrelenting years of public service. The film reveals a small nation under pressure, confronted by a new type of leadership that excites, incites and polarizes.

Ms. Information traverses motherhood, misogyny, misinformation and identity through the lens of a pink-haired microbiologist who "just wants to give people information".

The film is nearly finished - the producers are crowd-funding to complete the most expensive part, post-production. The team hopes you will choose to support Ms. Information – an important film about all of us in turbulent times.

We are SO CLOSE to finishing this film – your donation gives us resources to make it festival-quality.

Background

Ms INFORMATION was born of the award-winning short film Siouxsie & the Virus (2020)

What we’ve achieved so far

We have already raised $180,000 through seed funders Massey University, New Zealand Film Commission, donations and filmmaker investment. This Boosted campaign is an effort to bridge $75,000 funding gap, with $50,000 as our target we aim to lock this in, and push on with our stretch goal of $75,000.

Ms Information was one of eight projects selected for Compton Film School ‘In the Picture’ production development programme, in 2021 the project was selected for highly contested Story Camp a feature film lab that fosters craft, voice and vision. In addition director Gwen Isaac was a recipient of Film Up mentorship, with award-winning editor Cushla Dillon and filmmaker Annie Goldson.

Ms Information was selected as part of DOC NYC's roundtable pitch session in New York, 2021.

The Team

The key creative team are Gwen Isaac, Director of Where There is Life winner of best new director London Independent Film Awards (2017), producer Alex Reed of new feature documentary The Girl on the Bridge and HBO Max's There is No I in Threesome. and producer Phillida Perry who is a powerful blend of creative leader and experienced business owner with a legal background. Phillida has a burgeoning career as a writer, and already has produced her first short documentary, Kunst. Ms. Information is her first feature.

How you can help?

This Boosted campaign is an effort to bridge that $75,000 funding gap. This is where you come in. Ms. INFORMATION is completed to 'rough-cut' stage. It now requires post-production funding to meet costs for sound mix, picture grade, music rights, archive footage, visual effects - expensive but essential to the filmmaking process - to ensure we can bring to market a high-quality film fit for release at international film festivals and on streamers.
