Mindfully Made

Mindfully Made is an investigative documentary series consisting of 5, 5-minute episodes that explore the importance of sustainability in the New Zealand fashion industry.

In an effort to find where the industry is going wrong, our host Brittany Cosgrove discovers the true environmental impacts of fast fashion and speaks to New Zealand designers and activists that are responding by incorporating and advocating solutions to fashion. We are looking to raise $3,500 to fund our production and post-production costs i.e travel, talent, marketing, and archival footage.

Mindfully Made is being made as our third-year major project, a significant part of the final year of our degree, Bachelor of Creative Media Production at Massey University in Wellington, New Zealand. We are currently in pre-production, with filming commencing on the 3rd of August. 

The Story:

In the face of environmental crisis and growing consumer awareness, there seems to be a worldwide trend emerging of sustainable fashion. Often used as a marketing tool, environmentally conscious clothing can be defined differently by individual companies, faced with unique challenges in a highly competitive market. But what does this look like in New Zealand? In a culture of consumerism and fast fashion, who is leading the way into the future and who is falling behind?

Through this five-part, short-form investigative series, our host Brittany Cosgrove identifies key environmental issues caused by global clothing giants, before hearing from the leaders of sustainability in New Zealand’s own fashion industry. Alongside the audience, our host learns about the importance of striving to wear ethically and humanely sourced fabrics, that are made with the impact of our natural environment in mind.

How can you support us?

Our Boosted goal is $3,500. All donations will go towards purchasing archival footage, musical acquisition, travel costs, talent costs, and marketing collateral for distribution ( e.g website, printing, and promotions).
