Love for screen-printing
Art-East | Craft and Object
Overview
Art-East, a therapeutic art group under Drug-ARM Christchurch, is a multi-disciplinary art studio, incorporating drawing, painting, mosaics, stone-carving, papermaking, wood burning, printing and sculpture.
Since 2014, Art-East has been helping people who have struggled or are struggling with alcohol or drug addiction issues, mental health, institutionalisation and homelessness, by connecting them to the community through the arts (read more about us here). We engage with the wider arts community by having regular field trips to local galleries and inviting local artists to share their skills at the studio.
Our mission is to help people connect with the community through the arts.
One of the many ways we connect with the community is through our screen-printing workshops within the Navigate Unit of the Christchurch Men’s Prison.
We need your help.
We're looking to raise $2,000 to help set up a screen-printing studio in the community so that the men from the Navigate Unit who have enjoyed working with this medium can continue to do so.
Let's build a sense of hope.
Establishing this screen-printing studio outside the wire means empowering these men in building a sense of hope and accomplishment through the skills they learn and the relationships they make through Art-East.
Thank you for your support!
