The Show
Live At Six is a newsroom thriller that explores the intense rivalry between TV ONE and TV 3 in a creative and highly engaging theatre experience. When a YouTube video of a news anchor caught in a suspicious act spreads online, both newsrooms must edit the footage, live on stage, to suit their agenda.
Having been re-developed after its sell-out 2009 STAB season, Live At Six now embarks on a major New Zealand tour. Scandal, manipulation, and real time pressure are brought to life once more, using the latest in modern media technology.
Each performance begins as the 'incident' occurs in the foyer pre-show, captured by security cameras. Audience members can also use their smart phones to shoot the action and upload to the show crew. Interviews conducted with willing audience members in the interval add to both the story and the challenge for the editors.
At the end of the show, the audience sees both versions of the broadcast story, built with that night's footage. Does either version match the 'reality' they witnessed two hours earlier - and more importantly, whose will they tune in to?
TARANAKI - 15-17 August
CHRISTCHURCH - 29-31 August
WELLINGTON - 6-21 September
NELSON - 24-25 October
TAURANGA - 30-31 October
AUCKLAND - 12-16 November
We estimate the show to be seen by over 7,000 people across New Zealand during its tour.

How can YOU help?
The production is on its way around New Zealand this year, having secured a six-city tour to many of the regional Festivals (Taranaki, Christchurch, Nelson, Tauranga), plus seasons in Wellington and finally Auckland - TV news' home! We have secured major funding from Creative New Zealand and have support from the festivals, Downstage and The Edge, but we still need a bit more capital for us to break even.
This show has a team of 19 (9 cast, 10 designers/crew) and needs a plethora of technology equipment to make it come alive. Any donation will help us on our way, but here is an idea of some of the costs we currently face and what your investment could help us with:
$8 to hire our Apple computer screens each night
$31 to hire our Apple Mac Towers each night
$55 to hire the two 150" 3:4 projector screens each night
$125 to hire the two short throw projectors each night
$200 for one of the four cameras that are used in the show
$500 for our 80 metres of cable
We welcome any contribution - and did you know you can claim your tax back on your donation? BOOSTED is recognized as a charitable organization!
