Life's A Drag

The Project
Life’s A Drag is a short film drama unpacking unresolved feelings of queer sexual identity, loneliness, and detachment from loved ones.
Pat, a struggling artist, gets a call from his estranged sister, telling him that their homophobic father has died. With his money problems worsening, Pat must return home to collect his inheritance. However, he learns his sister has inherited the entire estate, and instead, Pat’s inherited a long-held family secret.
About Life's A Drag
With this film, rather than creating a political message about queerness, the writer intimately explores inter-personal politics and identity through the film's main character, Pat.
Set down a path of self-destruction, Pat must find the key to rekindling his relationship with his family and most importantly, himself. Ultimately this film is a transformational story of healing, set in the world of a camp glittery nightmare.
We have an amazing, diverse crew from all parts of the world and the queer spectrum who are dedicated to the project.
Life’s A Drag is brought to you by a Master of Fine Arts film crew, in association with Miramar Creative Centre & Te Herenga Waka Victoria University of Wellington.
