LETITIA Recording Project
Letitia Mackenzie | Music
Overview
Hello! My name is Letitia Mackenzie and I am an aspiring Wellington musician and a third year Commercial Music student at Massey University. I am about to embark on a 12-week project for my Music Major, which will be presented at the Massey University graduate ‘Exposure’ event in November of this year.
ABOUT THIS PROJECT
For this project I will write and professionally record four musical compositions. These recordings will form the basis of my debut music release (under my artist name 'Letitia')— taking place in early 2022.
My intention is to exhibit these compositions in physical form—by way of creating symbolic sculptures, which enact an aural experience when touched by a human audience.
These touch-sensitive sculptures are designed to facilitate human connection, by bringing people together to create unique ‘remixes’ of my work. Ultimately the entire composition can only be heard among friends.
These sculptures will be displayed on a series of plinths at the Massey University 'Exposure' exhibition.
WHY?
I grew up in the Coromandel Peninsula where I was involved in music, theatre and dance from a very young age. Songwriting has always been my biggest passion, as has capturing the healing value of bringing people together with music as a central focus.
This project is an opportunity for me to do that—while creating and recording music that I am proud of. This project will allow me to kickstart my career within the New Zealand music industry and I am so excited for you to come along on this journey with me!
