LAND(escape)
Felipe DiPaula | Film
Overview
Land(escape) is a short drama-documentary talks about the post-traumatic and the healing processes after escaping domestic violence. Violence is not the main focus. The film aims to show beneficial ways survivors can find when dealing with their newfound freedom and also emphasises that people who escape domestic violence can and do heal.
Written and directed by Felipe DiPaula.
Produced by Ethan MacKenzie.
The film follows the story of a young woman who walks away from domestic violence determined not to come back to that land once again, but to come back to herself. While living with her abusive partner, she finds distraction by creating landscapes in glass bottles. Bottles from alcoholic drinks he would leave empty.
Seeing herself locked in that land where manipulation, threat, and addiction escalate, she decides to escape. She plans and succeeds but leaving a toxic relationship does not seem to be the end of her problems. Dealing with her freedom also becomes a big problem.
Yes, we need your help!!
We can’t do it without money. This is where we need your help. We are third-year communication students majoring in Screen Production at AUT. Like most university students we are broke but full of energy and creativity. Your donation goes towards transportation, props, feeding our crew, coffee, and film festival submissions. Any contribution, big or super big (lol) is really appreciated and plays an important role in promoting discussions about life after surviving domestic violence.
Thanks for your support in making this project a reality. And thanks for helping us to bring hope for all women around the world.
You can check the film progress by following us on Facebook.
Thank you very much,
Felipe and Ethan
