Overview
Si'oto'ofa, 'Kupesi Peau Ongo: New Horizons' is a collaborative project between Sione Faletau (multidisciplinary artist) and Sione Langi (musician).
With your support, we are looking to create an immersive and interactive exhibition, where people can come into the gallery space and create kupesi (patterns), through the interaction and activation of Tongan Instruments.
ABOUT THIS PROJECT
'Kupesi Peau Ongo' in the Tongan language means 'Patterning Sound Waves'. Through our collaboration on this project, we were inspired by our Tongan heritage and wanting to reconnect with our Tongan culture. With our backgrounds in Fine Arts and Music we want to fuse the two worlds together, to create an innovative way of making kupesi (patterns).
We hope that Kupesi Peau Ongo: New Horizons can educate, inspire, and encourage people to utilize technology and other strands to discover and explore their cultural heritage.
HELP US MAKE IT HAPPEN
With your help through donations, we are looking to cover costs for research and development, equipment, and venue hirage to bring this project together. Our goal is to have this project in the community for people of all ages to engage with. With your help, and with our Boosted X Moana match fund, we have been given this chance to create a foundation of this dream project.
We hope that this project will inspire and encourage artists and creatives alike to add their voice to traditions, creating new pathways to engage with the traditional past through contemporary creation and innovation.
We can’t wait to share this work with you and we are so grateful for your support on this journey. Please share this around if this is a project you want to support and bring to fruition.
MALO AUPITO (Thank you)
