The Film
Juntas follows two sisters who've taken a priest hostage after he witnesses the murder of their abusive stepfather; their unity begins to fall apart as the sisters are torn between seeking salvation and enacting retribution, while they struggle to determine whether he is an innocent bystander or another enemy.
Juntas is a story about differing worldviews and how these drastically different approaches to making the world a better place keep getting in each other's way
Director's Statement
I wanted to make this female revenge story to demonstrate that in a dark world, where even sacred places can be treacherous, women can overcome these dangers together and the obstacles between them.
I'm excited to collaborate with Latin American actors living in Aotearoa, and the international crew working to make this film a reality.
Thank you for your generosity!
