Julian Temple Band Album Fundraiser + Music Helps Donation
Julian Temple | Music
Overview
We are planning to record our 7th full length album at Sublime Studios in Kurow, NZ and are fundraising to help with the studio recording costs. 20% of what we raise will also be donated to Music Helps, a charity which is currently helping New Zealand music workers through the difficult times caused by the worldwide outbreak of the Covid-19 virus.
Our 7th album...
Will be the first recording we’ve done as a 6-piece with the new member addition of sonically charged electric guitarist Andy Straight (Anthonie Tonnon, Biff Merchants, Sunley Band). Exploring this new texture in our demos has been an absolute hoot and we can’t wait to all get back in a room together. Lyrically, the songs have become more poetic with an emphasis on the human condition, mental health, and environmentalism. Expect a grittier, complexly layered and intricately connected sound from our 7th album with splashings of bluesy, psych-rock, chamber and soulful undertones.
Premiering on Boosted, 7:30pm 25 April
We were fortunate enough to do a test-run at Sublime Studios in February, 2020 resulting in the live-in-studio recording and video that we are premiering for this campaign. Watch that here at 7:30pm, Saturday 25th April. Both songs are original compositions; "Guilt" - a song about the overwhelming emotions one feels from doing something they know was wrong, and "Tunnels" - written for Temple's mother who has recently been diagnosed with a form of dementia. The album will feature musicians Paul McLennan-Kissel on drums, Logan Hampton on keys, Alex Vaatstra on violin, Andy Straight on electric guitar/vocals, Steve Marshall on bass/vocals and Julian Temple on guitars/vocals.

Check out any of our previous albums at juliantempleband.com - we recommend ‘Antarctica’ and ‘Upsidedownbackwards'.
All 6 albums are available to stream/purchase on the site.
Happy Mag Austalia summed up our sound pretty well:
“Julian Temple Band create sprawling landscapes within their songs. Their tunes are like sweat-soaked fever dreams; surreal hallucinations that leave you feeling as though you’re staggering through a slice of vast and desolate desert. There’s a coldness in their songs, but an equally powerful warmth to counteract.” - Happy Mag, Australia
Your contribution will mean we can finish recording our 7th album at Submlime Studios in Kurow. Thank you for your support.
Join us 7:30pm Saturday 25 April for the premiere of "Guilt" and "Tunnels" recorded at Sublime Studio, February 2020.
Boosted LIVE made possible thanks to Creative NZ.
