International Siva Afi Competition 2022

November 2022, will be the 20th International Siva Afi Competition in Samoa, I am seeking funding to support me attending this competition.

Siva Afi or fire knife dancing originated from Samoa and it is a growing pheromone throughout the Pacific and US.

Aotearoa is slowly catching up to the rest of the Pacific, during COVID-19 pandemic and border closures, we were not able to travel overseas to attend fire knife events or competition being held in Hawaii, California and in Samoa. The International Siva Afi Competition in Samoa this November will be the first competition opened to everyone, now with Samoa borders opening in August. I would be attending this competition as a show of support from Aotearoa to Samoa as well as to finally network face-to-face with siva afi practicians in Samoa and other from other countries who will also be attending. Attending Samoa’s competition this November will also solidifies our working relationship with established international events, and connects them to our own competition in March 2023, under the umbrella of SIVA AFI FESTIVAL.

This funding will help me to (1) upgrade my knives for the competition (2) competition registration (3) Airport tax for my knives. All other matters such as Airfare, Accommodation, Food and travel while in Samoa I am self-funding.
