Incremental: The Making of Ma Lune

The idea for this project began as a three minute stop-motion film:

Ma Lune is set on post-apocalyptic Earth several years after the moon was forcibly removed from the sky. The story begins when a spirited young woman Olea stumbles upon a reborn baby moon and as her obsession with it grows, the connection she and her sisters share with the moon is brought to light.

Now, not only is this stop-motion already in pre-production, but a documentary tasked with capturing the artistic development process of Ma Lune is also underway.

The films are being produced alongside one another, and by supporting Incremental: The Making of Ma Lune you will be supporting two films in one!

What your donations will go towards:

• The majority of your funding will be going towards art supplies for Ma Lune. Nearly everything in this project is handmade, meaning we need money for fabric, clay, string, paint, glue, wood, armatures, landscaping and much more!
• Koha for the external subjects who partake in our documentary and provide expertise in the making of Ma Lune
• Food for the crew
• Distributing and entering our film into film festivals

Why support our project?

This project is about a group of students with the ambition to combine their skills to create something new and exciting. We believe that stop-motion is such an overlooked art form, and we are so excited to be able to share our love for it both through Ma Lune and through our documentary.

Ma Lune is a story which addresses themes of greed and our relationship with the environment, as well as the role of women. Incremental is an entirely women-led documentary crew, aiming to give a voice to this amazing group of emerging filmmakers, and contest the current status quo of the film industry.
