Hutt City

Hi there!??

I'm Sarah, I am currently in my fourth year at Massey University completing a Bachelor of Design with Honors, majoring in Photography. For my final and (major) project this year I am creating a body of work exhibiting how I see the world. More specifically how I see the area of Lower Hutt to Upper Hutt, and the places in between them. I would like to start exploring New Zealand more thoroughly. I chose to start this exploration of New Zealand with the areas of Lower Hutt, Upper Hutt and the places in between them. This decision came about as a result of constant astonishment of the green hills and quaint beauty I always came across whilst passing through these places. As a South African I am constantly blown away with New Zealand landscapes, 11 years on and the places I find never cease to move me.

My aim is to use photography as a tool to alter people's perspectives of their surroundings. This project is an exploration of these locations rather than a commentary of the site.

Exhibiting this final project in a professional manner would mean so much to me, I have studied photography for five years and would be really grateful to finish it off with, my first public, solo exhibition.

The transition from university to the work place, especially in the arts world is usually always a bit scary, having this exhibition will really expose me as an up and coming artist and help me network with people in the industry which is vital to my practice.

All the money I raise through Boosted NZ will go towards the printing and framing of the images, this is my largest cost of the exhibition.
