Hundertwasser Art Centre with Wairau Maori Art Gallery
Prosper Northland Trust | Multi Discipline
Overview
The Hundertwasser Art Centre with Wairau Maori Art Gallery will provide Northland with a New Zealandly and New Zealandly recognised cultural facility and tourist attraction.
Once built, it will be a wakahuia, a treasure box, of exemplary artworks from renowned contemporary M?ori artists, and original Hundertwasser artworks provided from the collection in Vienna.
In its own right, the building will be a stunning artwork on a grand scale and one of New Zealand's most iconic buildings.
The building's Hundertwasser gallery will show 50 Hundertwasser pieces which will change at times, while the Wairau Maori Art Gallery will exhibit contemporary Maori Art, proudly supported by Toi Iho, with a new exhibition every three months. The WMAG has the unique potential to take a leading role in articulation of indigenous arts globally.
The building will be located at the site Hundertwasser chose, on the corner Quayside and Dent St at the Town Basin in Whangarei.
As per referendum requirement Prosper Northland Trust has to raise $16.25million as well as a $2 million underwrite by June the 30, 2017. With the support of a group of passionate volunteers, the trust are getting close to that mark, but every dollar counts. We won't get there without your help.
With $1.4 million still to be raised, Whangarei Lawyers Henderson Reeves has promised to commit $20,000 to the project . . . but only if the same sum can be raised on Boosted.
As Hundertwasser said; "When we dream alone, it is just a dream. But when many dream together it is the beginning of a new reality" . . . Please help us make this dream come true!
