"HOKIA"
Ahakoa te raruraru, he whānau tonu / No matter what, we're still family.
This narrative delves into themes of family, grief, and sticking together —even when we piss each other off.
Hokia serves as a nuanced reflection on the relentless passage of life, reminding us that no matter our struggles, time continues to unfold. The film follows a māmā and kōhine on a tension-filled road trip, where their differences often lead to conflict, exposing the quirks and idiosyncrasies that challenge their bond. When they arrive at their destination, their lives will be irreversibly changed in more ways than one.
Hokia is being made with support from the Ngā Aho Shorts initiative and is set to film 27-29SEP in Tamaki-Makaurau. We have a strong script, legendary cast, a highly-experienced team, and some funding to get us started. What we need is a little more help (read: money) to get our film over the line and delivered in time for the Rotorua International Film Festival in November.
OUR ASK
As a first goal, we hope to raise $6,000. This will allow us to better compensate our cast & crew, who are already working at highly reduced rates.
As a stretch goal, we hope to raise a further $5000 ($11,000 total). This will allow us to finish the film with professional audio post & colour grade as well as put together some components for publicity incl. a trailer.
HOW YOU CAN HELP
1) Donate! Go on, you know you want to. We will take anything! Don't be whakamā (shy), $5, $10, $1000 - we are grateful for every cent.
2) Share! Please share our Boosted page with your community - Facebook, Instagram, Tik Tok, whatever your poison, we want to be on it.
3) Come celebrate! Come to RIFF and support us at the premiere of Hokia! We would love to meet you. If you can't come, follow us on @caravancarparkfilms where you can view Hokia's progress and stay up to date with the latest CCF kaupapa.
