Hey Brainy Man
Electric Shoelace Productions | Film
Overview
Hey, Brainy Person! Jo Randerson's imagination has taken audiences into confrontational, human and hilarious places on stage and in books. Now she is moving into film - a medium that reaches people all over the world - with a New Zealand Film Commission short 'Hey, Brainy Man!'. Jo wrote the film and will co-direct with her long time friend actor/director Loren Taylor.
Featuring performances by the wonderful Ana Scotney (Breaker Upperers, Paranormal Unit), Cohen Holloway (Thor, Hunt for the Wilder People, Boy), Geronimo LaHood and Jo Randerson, this film is a message from our ancestors - a challenge to humankind about the direction we're heading in.
We're proud in this Suffrage Year to have a strong female producing team of Ashleigh Flynn, Jaimee Poipoi and Olivia Shanks, with executive producers Carthew Neal and Jeremy Macey. And we're absolutely delighted to have the visual artistry of Adam Luxton, DOP, on our team. In short, we're all very excited.
The New Zealand Film Commission thinks the project is great and have come on board with funds, but we're short of the money needed to really make this film fly. We're turning to you - our supporters and fellow art lovers - to join us in lifting this project to its real heights. Our characters are not the kind of human we are used to - let's just say they are unique - the funds raised from this campaign will ensure that our prosthetics and make-up will show the older and hairier side of our characters.
If you're keen to support a strong female-led work and you like art which is innovative, makes you think, question and laugh - then this is the project you want to support. All donations, large or small will be so appreciated by our team!
So, please join us and support Jo Randerson's move into cinema by donating old glue or face paint but best of all, cash. We want you to be part of this excitement and share our creative journey - like a...crumpled piece of fabric unfolding before our eyes - with a unique kind of treasure wrapped inside.
