Here & Out
Mango Collective | Visual Art
Overview
What is Here & Out about?
Nine female street artists from five different countries will showcase their artwork, experiences, and talent in a Covid context; under a program that will enrich Wellington's public visual art, the city's practitioners, young talent, and the general public.
Here & Out is a festival that will create meaningful connections between Aotearoa New Zealand’s artists, producers, cultural managers and their overseas colleagues.
What would people enjoy about this project?
With talks, workshops, and an art show, we will share the work of an amazing group of recognized female creatives in the global street art world with the community.
Here & Out is a huge project that includes a real-life / online exhibition, a Public Art Programme, an online shop, and a documentary film.
Who are the rockstars of this project?
Here & Out features nine female street artists from Aotearoa, Colombia, Peru, Chile, Europe and Asia. A third of them are Indigenous to their country.
New Zealanders participating in this show include the Dreamgirls Collective: Gina Kiel, Xoë Hall, and Miriama Grace-Smith, Janine Williams from TMD crew, and Holly Rock (a.k.a. Fluro). The international lineup includes Meki from Peru, Paula Tikay from Chile, Caratoes from Europe/Asia and is led by Gleo, the Colombian artist who painted the biggest acrylic paint mural in the world in the U.S.A. in 2018.
Why do we need your help?
We've had a lot of support through different public funding here in New Zealand, but since this is a project with multiple components – some of them focused on international activities – we need extra help to be able to:
- Bring artwork from Colombia, Perú, Chile and México to New Zealand.
- Frame the artwork with a local provider.
- Produce part of the exhibition (at Toi Pōneke).
- Hire an international film crew in each of the artist's countries for the short documentary that we are producing about this project.
Your support for this project will make Here & Out the best it can be!
Thank you so much.
