Help us get to National Festival!
Wellington Symphonic Bands | Music
Overview
Where we're going
The New Zealand Concert Band Association's national festival is the highlight of our calendar every year. It's a chance to show our stuff on a national stage, receive feedback from adjudicators, and to meet other like-minded musicians from over 20 other bands around the motu. This year the festival is held at the University of Waikato, Kirikiriroa Hamilton on August 2-3, and we have a massive 104 band members across three bands to get there.
About Wellington Symphonic Bands
Operating since 2011, we're the Wellington region's only large wind ensembles for amateur players, providing a vital breath of fresh air for people who simply love to play their instruments.
The bands our society supports (and you will be too!) are:
Wellington City Concert Band
A focused group of more than 40 players Grade 6 and above who're keen to perform to a high standard, conducted by Mike Ashton
Capital City Wind Band
A fun, social group of more than 50 players aged 11-70(plus!) who play music of all kinds, conducted by David Codd
Wellington Youth Concert Band
Only in its second year, this small but mighty band is supported by a core group of players from Wellington College, conducted by David Codd
Our bands provide accessible live music performances around Pōneke throughout the year, playing at community venues, churches and rest homes, and for special occasions such as ANZAC Day. We're proud to support our community, and we hope you're proud to support us too! Learn more about us and our performances on our website.
