Help Skin Hunger get to Adelaide Fringe Festival

The Project
Kia ora everyone!
So glad you are here. If you have seen Skin Hunger you would know that it is a solo show based on my personal experiences with grief, crappy Tinder dates and religious hang-ups.
When I wrote Skin Hunger I was trying to process my grief at the death of my husband and at the same time give myself permission to figure out what to do with the life I didn't choose - being a widow was not my idea of a happy ending. I figured that there would be a lot of other people out there who would be facing similar challenges. And I was right!
Every time I performed Skin Hunger many people have reached out to me to share about how moved, inspired and encouraged they felt. People felt seen and understood. Many have also shared their own stories of grief and loss, their struggles with religion, their desire to find love, and their fear of putting themselves out there. Skin Hunger truly has become a permission slip for audiences, and a way to talk about the unholy trinity of grief, God and 'gasms (or the lack of them!)
After 3 sell-out seasons in Auckland, and a sold-out, smash-hit national tour - all independently funded - my producing partner Todd (and work wife!) and myself decided it was time to take the show global! We’re off to the Adelaide Fringe Festival in February!!!
This is truly a dream come true and Todd and I invested our small profit from the 2023 tour to have the seed funding to begin this journey, rather than paying ourselves anything. And then BAM! Tragedy struck. We were told in late December that Creative New Zealand wouldn’t be supporting our tour to Adelaide so that the project could be financially viable.
We spent our summer break peeling ourselves off the floor and putting ourselves back together and we’ve recommitted to this project harder than ever because we believe in it with all our hearts and we have seen first-hand the positive impact it has had on many audiences.
But - and there is a big BUT - we still need to raise $10,000 by Wed 7 February 😬😳🤞🏻to make it viable for us to go. This is a huge amount for us, and we cannot do it alone. So here we are, reaching out to you and humbly asking you to please help us.
We know Skin Hunger is a story that inspires and changes lives, and by hook or by crook we are going to get it to Adelaide. It just means that once again we have to work out how to continue bringing this important show to audiences without CNZ support. We need your help to make this happen!
Adelaide Fringe is the second biggest Festival in the world and performing Skin Hunger there will not only help us spread the empowering and encouraging message of this show, but it will also give us exposure and open opportunities for Skin Hunger to be picked up and paid to be presented in other international cities. If 100 people donate $100 we can easily reach this target. But of course, any amount you can contribute will be greatly appreciated.
We look forward to sharing this journey with you!
