The Project
Each year 24 of New Zealand’s most talented young actors are selected from SGCNZ’s National Shakespeare Schools Production to form the SGCNZ Young Shakespeare Company, who then train and perform at Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre... and I can't believe I'm one of them! But I need your help...
The Team
My amazing family is helping me fundraise all they can, I am grateful they understand the incredible opportunity this is for me.
The Funding
The total cost to attend is $11,400. My Mum and Dad have been able to help a bit, and I will be working part-time whilst juggling my first year of University, but a cost as large as this, is out of our reach, and I need to find another $8000 to make it possible. It is always hard to ask for help but I am hoping our amazing "village" might be able to work some magic.
The Details
We will get to participate in a comprehensive and exciting programme, based principally at Shakespeare’s Globe London, encompassing workshops, talks, Q&A sessions about the plays with actors and directors, behind the scene tours of the Globe, Rose and National Theatre, watch performances and rehearse at the Globe. Over their two weeks in London, they will have twelve rehearsals taken by a Globe Director in scenes from one of Shakespeare’s plays which they will have the amazing opportunity to perform for the public on the Globe stage.
The Impact
I am hoping to attend the SGCNZ Young Shakespeare Company to further develop my skills in acting, direction and performance. I am excited to learn from the workshops, rehearsals, talks and studies that make up the programme, and firmly believes this will develop my skills and prove invaluable in my development as a performer. My desire to attend the SGCNZ Young Shakespeare Company is to not only to become a better performer myself, but also learn how to bring out that magic in others. Attending a programme run by the foremost Theatre in London will also strengthen my Bachelor of Arts (Theatre) studies and enhance my future opportunities.
