HELP ME GET TO NEW YORK
Clare Gemima | Visual Art
Overview
Graduating from Whitecliffe College last year as the Wikiriwhi Scholarship winner, I am lucky enough to see my four and a half year fine arts degree grant me the opportunity to travel to the huge and stimulating apple that is New York City - but I need your help to get there!
New York is the global hub for contemporary art and has historically nourished the careers of some of the most pioneering household names of the 21st Century.
I am fundraising for the main purpose of being able to situate myself in New York for the entirety of 2019, navigating my creative practice and broadening my research by immersing myself within the artistic community, forming connections and linking with other creatives.
Your kind contributions will go towards setting up a new creative life where I can organize a studio, continue to make, and discover the craziness of a brand new city waiting for me on the other side of the world.
I still have plans to accomplish in New Zealand before I leave in November, which entail putting on a show in Auckland and more actively showcasing emerging female artists during Art Week 2018 under my role as a Unique Experiences provider with T?maki P?taka K?rero (Central City Library).
I would be so grateful for any support towards this endeavour and truly feel as though this opportunity is once in a lifetime - one that I have worked extremely hard for. I wish to be able to give back to my providers by allowing them to be part of my artistic journey and be with me along the way through website updates and posts.
I believe my passion for creating and learning more about contemporary art can only be enhanced by travelling and exploring what a new city has to offer me. I know it will be hard, but with your help, my craft will take on a whole new lease of life, and in turn, new achievements and artistic goals can come to fruition.
