The Project

The Festival

ImagineNATIVE is the most prestigious and largest indigenous film festival in the world. This festival values, acknowledges and respects diversity and strives towards dispelling stereotypical notions of indigenous peoples through diverse media presentations from within our communities.

The Film

My Brother Mitchell is a semi-autobiographical film written and directed by Todd Karehana which explores his experience of grief after losing a loved one. Shot predominantly in Todd's home town of Kawerau, the film is visually beautiful, taking the viewer on a heartfelt quest through cinematic and dreamlike landscapes.

The Kaupapa

We feel it is of utmost importance that we remain unified as a r?p? throughout the entire journey of this special film. We believe this kaupapa will ensure our sustainable, long lasting, meaningful working relationships well into the future. Because of our shared values we see ImagineNative as the most important film festival to present our taonga to the world. We hope to network and develop our craft by sharing breath and korero with other indigineous storytellers.

Your generous koha will go towards the cost of flights and accommodation, ensuring we can make the most of this fantastic opportunity together.

Ng? mihi nui ki a koutou katoa,

N?, Jane, Todd, Mia & Julian.
