The Project
With Adorned Feathers is a short doco with a budget of $4000 which follows our youth in South Auckland and their stories of success, overcoming challenges, and pursuing their passions.
"Ma te huruhuru te manu ka rere" – "Adorned with feathers, the bird is able to fly"
This whakatauki is a popular metaphor for young people being properly prepared and supported to take on the responsibilities of adulthood.
The offering speaks to both the young person and to those who are in supportive roles, including whānau, kaimahi and the wider community. It encourages us to consider our shared responsibility, promoting interdependent relationships and shared success.
With Adorned Feathers will be the first content to feature on our own Media Platform similar to the Netflix experience, which gradually be built around our developing youth in Aotearoa and their drive to succeed. This will be one of the first Indigenous-driven media platforms that we will build throughout the year.
About us – Maori Warrior Media
Our story nurtures whakapapa and links between whānau, focuses on rangatahi Māori with the aim of enhancing opportunities for success, encouraging positive outcomes for them and their whānau. We follow young inspiring leaders across Tāmaki and the south region to document their stories of challenge and success, hopes and dreams for the future, and the special quirk that has helped them through their life lessons.
About this project – With Adorned Feathers
This documentary will capture our growing youth of Aotearoa/ New Zealand in a positive light. We want to give hope to the world, through telling these uplifting stories about depth of culture, growth and development.
We want to give insights into the lives within our community, told by a collaborative team of filmmakers, vloggers, and audio engineers. This project has the potential to impact the lives of many and we believe our storytelling style and Aotearoa flair will reach out to those across the world.
What will this Boosted Campaign fund?
With your help raising money for this cost, Maori Warrior Media can craft a high-quality documentary of our youth which will feature on our Netflix Aotearoa platform and stream cast international.
We want to give hope to a generation of young leaders across Aotearoa, who are stepping outside of their comfort zone, pushing boundaries, and breaking stereotypes. We will tell heartwarming and inspiring stories, that weave together the feathers of each individual, building wings that fly.
Raising these funds is essential to creating this film. Your support will be help us cover cast/crew wages, location (including travel and accommodation costs), costumes, props/set dressing, and more.
Our Reputation.
Over the last 8 years, we have traveled New Zealand, following sustainability and community development, documenting and creating content for Iwi organizations, small businesses, and content for the individual. We've created episodes for Māori TV, following the birth of our first child, Cooking shows, vlogs, and more.
You can see our Facebook page over here.
Our latest project documents influencers across New Zealand, impacting their communities for change.
Over the next 20 days, we will be boosting our content online and raising awareness around the filmmaking projects we are creating.
Whether you are young or old, there’s always room to grow. Learning a new skill, solving problems, and helping others are just some of the many “feathers” you can wear in order to soar high. The more strengths you have, the higher you’ll fly! Give your tamariki those feathers (experiences) so they may soar.
Thank you for your support.
