Haere Mai: A Short Film
Benjamin McQueen | Film
Overview
ABOUT US
We are a group of AUT screen production students, currently in the pre-production stages of our final film project, Haere Mai. We have a core team of director, producer and cinematographer as well as additional crew and our talented cast.
Our team:
- Ben McQueen as director
- Joel Heineke as producer
- Dylan Kennedy as cinematographer
ABOUT THE STORY
Haere Mai is a story of forgiveness. It follows a young man's journey as he is released from prison after spending three years for the tragic manslaughter of his best mate. Through the grief and guilt, he has found new hope and purpose in seeking the forgiveness of all those he has hurt through his reckless actions. At the start of the film we find him at the farm of his best mate's parents. He approaches their front door, desperately clinging to his last bit of bravery and hope. Will he find forgiveness?

The world would be such a better place if we all learnt to forgive each other.
