CREATIVE GUIDE - NEW ZEALAND: SOPHIE LINDSAY
Sophie Lindsay is an Actor, Writer and Director. She is a graduate of the University of Auckland with a Bachelor of Arts (Theatre Studies and History) and Toi Whakaari: New Zealand Drama School with a Bachelor of Performing Arts (Acting). In 2008 she received the Museum Hotel Shakespeare Globe Centre NZ Acting Scholarship.
Brought up in Vanuatu in a trilingual environment, Sophie began acting in French theatre. In 2003 she interned at London's Globe Theatre, with Mark Rylance as the Artistic Director.
Sophie has worked with local and international theatre practitioners as an Actor, Producer, Assistant Director or Writer; Ahi Karunaharan (The Wall, 2020), Te Kohe Tuhaka (Te Puhi, 2017), Simon Bennett (Shortland Street – The Musical, 2017), Juliet O'Brien (The Letter Writer, 2010), Christian Penny (The Caucasian Chalk Circle, 2009).
Most recently she collaborated with Natalia Pereira and Sofía Rivero from Animalismo Teatro, on The Story of Emilie – and Voltaire which she wrote and directed.
ACTOR: ALEJANDRO STERENSTEIN
Alejandro is a professional actor, co-founder and co-director of the theatre company Animalismo Teatro. In the company he works as an actor and has a creative role in the production of the shows.
As an actor he has been part of "Habbuk" (original play from Animalismo Teatro that has been performed in Uruguay and Canada), Elixir (original play from Animalismo Teatro), "El viento en un violín" (directed by Gerardo Bergeres), "Continente viril", "Bang bang, estás muerto" (directed by Dante Alfonso), and "La gata sobre el tejado de Zinc Caliente" (directed by David Hammond).
He also works independently designing and building sets for cultural events.
ACTRESS: SOFÍA RIVERO
Sofía is an actress and singer who graduated from the Multidisciplinary School of Dramatic Art: Margarita Xirgú (EMAD - Montevideo Uruguay - 2016) with a Bachelor of Performing Arts (Acting). She studied at SODRE National School of Lyric Art (ENAL) and with the teacher and lyrical singer Fernando Barabino.
She co-directs the theatre company Animalismo Teatro where she works as an actress, producer and has a creative role in the devising of the company's shows.
Sofía has participated in the first Nomadic School workshop held in Chile under the direction of Ariane Mnouchkine; an initiative presented and organised by the Teatro a Mil foundation (Chile), with the support of the French Institute in Chile, in alliance with Théâtre du Soleil (2015).
As an actress she has been part of "Habbuk" (original play from Animalismo Teatro that has been performed in Uruguay and Canada), "Anina Yatay Salas" (directed by Fernando Amaral), "Enjambre" (directed by Fabián Santarciel de la Quintana in collaboration with Loes Van der Pligt), "Otros problemas de humanidad" (directed by Sebastián Calderón), "Bichos del Teatro" (directed by Lucía Sommer), and "2185" (directed by Diego Ayubí).
Most recently she collaborated with Sophie Lindsay, on The Story of Emilie – and Voltaire as an actor (written and directed by Lindsay).
