The Project
In a world where one simply must wear a turtleneck and cats give impassioned speeches to their needy owners about self worth, there lives... the FUQ BOIZ...
OKAY, SO WHAT IS IT?
Have you ever shown up to a party too early and had to make punishing small talk with someone you barely know? Have you ever felt completely out of place around your partner’s friends? Have you ever accidentally moved into a policeman’s house, stolen his family’s identity, then burnt the house down? Yes? Thought so.
FUQ BOIZ is the uniquely refreshing comedy duo of Ryan Richards and Hamish Parkinson. Based on their Fred Award-nominated live show, Ryan and Hamish bring their absurd, lightning-energy sensibilities to this bold sketch series that takes relatable social pressures and crippling anxieties to their illogical extremes.
WHY MAKE IT
Ryan and Hamish are no-holds-barred performers that truly know how to commit to the bit. After three cult-hit live shows, it only makes sense to bring this unique style of comedy to a wider audience.
We believe there is a real thirst for this kind of content - so much so that we've already invested our own money into filming eight sketches. Think Tim Robinson’s I Think You Should Leave or Aunty Donna. Curb Your Enthusiasm but in sketch form, with the commitment of Key & Peele. All with a distinctly New Zealand twist.
PLEASE HELP!
We now need help to fund post-production so we can bring these sketches to you in the best possible light. Your donation will go towards the costs of editing, grading, music, sound mixing and sound design.
THE TEAM
Multi-award winning comedian, writer and director (including Billy T, and National 48 Hours) Hamish Parkinson is mostly known for his comedic roles in diverse web series, TV and film such as Viva La Dirt League, Hunt For The Wilderpeople and Creamerie.
Ryan Richards has acted regularly in various TV shows, films and stage productions - almost exclusively in comedic roles. Over the years, Ryan has also written or co-written 10 original comedy shows that have been staged in various theatres throughout the country.
Ryan and Hamish have teamed up with Producer Matai'a Sarah Richards and Director Laura Daniel as well as an incredible ensemble cast and crew.
Laura has been a fixture of NZ’s television comedy for years, writing and starring in Funny Girls, Jono and Ben, 7 Days, Have You Been Paying Attention, Taskmaster, among many others. In recent years, Laura has been emerging as a talented director, producing and directing her own segments on Seven Sharp and co-directing several Two Hearts music videos including the viral hit "Eurovusion (Open Up)". Laura has directed many live comedy shows, including the original Fred-nominated “Fuq Boiz” show, and has been working closely with Ryan and Hamish ever since.
Sarah started up her production company One-Legged Seagull this year with FUQ BOIZ as her first scripted project. Sarah’s previous roles include production manager for Tagata Pasifika and digital producer for TP+.
The sketches have been shot beautifully by DOP Kirk Pflaum, with Sports Team (Annabel Kean = Callum Devlin) going full throttle in art department. We also managed to wrangle some of New Zealand's best comedians, including Billy T Winners Abby Howells, Brynley Stent and David Correos to name a few.
