Fresh Off The Page Aotearoa (FOTPA) is back, fresher than ever! 

Help us hit $10K to fund the final reading, support writer RJ Hilaga and future plans for an Asian writers workshop.  Let's make storytelling accessible to all!

The Team

Since 2013, Proudly Asian Theatre has created stereotype-shattering works and initiatives that nurture and upskill the Asian arts community.

The Ōtautahi program is led by local creative leaders and collaborators: Asian Waves Productions, PAT’s Producer mentee, Krystal O’Gorman and the dynamic duo Tom & Holly of Two Productions. 

FOTPA

This booming initiative began in Tāmaki Makaurau in 2016 and expanded to Pōneke and Ōtautahi last year, igniting the Asian theatre community.

With Playmarket NZ, FOTPA teams up Ōtautahi mentors to playwrights like RJ Hilaga, integrating them into the local creative scene. 

The result? A FREE-entry playreading presented by talented local artists, inviting the community to celebrate Asian stories. And trust us, FOTPA events always go OFF! 

But there’s more! FOTPA mentors new companies and producers building Otautahi’s infrastructure. Krystal O’Gorman and Tristan Valencia of Asian Waves Productions collaborate with Two Productions to establish producing knowledge and ongoing support. 

Funding

This mahi is vital for our Asian community in Ōtautahi to be represented. Our kaupapa is to support artists, and that means financially too.

We’ll be hosting a workshop to boost Asian writers' confidence and foster a diverse community of writers  in Ōtautahi. You can support this exciting endeavour too!

Leading the way in NZ arts

How? A unique all-Asian season of developed play readings, encouraging other well-funded companies to recognise and develop them too. 

40% of FOTPA scripts have been programmed and further developed. Creating job opportunities that represent our Asian actors, directors, and writers. The success of "Scenes From A Yellow Peril" and "Pinay" exemplifies this. 

Fresh works from minority experiences inspire and engage our audiences, while challenging perspectives.
