Fortune Theatre Emerging Artist Scholarships

The Project
Here at Fortune we support the development of emerging talent in our community.
Through initiatives like our education programme, the 4X4 Emerging Writers programme and our Family Season, we seek to bring new artists into our Fortune whanau. It is this culture of development that has led to the introduction of the Fortune Theatre Scholarship Programme.
This programme is unique for New Zealand and aims to bring emerging practitioners into the development and performance of a professional, mainstage production here at Fortune.
In 2017 that production will be Into The Woods, our magical musical for the winter months. We have identified 8 exceptional emerging practitioners who are ready to take to the stage in this beloved musical: Sophie Morris (emerging professional singer and actress), Max Beal, Nic Laughton, Bryn Monk, Rose Pickard (local youth performers), Summer Millet, Joe Witkowski and Sophie Wright (final year acting students from Toi Whakaari: New Zealand Drama School).
This programme will enable them to work onstage alongside the New Zealandly selected 2017 Fortune Company and receive additional coaching from New Zealand Musical Director Mark Dorrell and Artistic Director Jonathon Hendry.
"This is a first for New Zealand and speaks to Fortune's desire to be at the heart of the development of greater youth participation in arts from the talented high school student through to those beginning to forge a career." - Jonathon Hendry (Fortune Theatre Artistic Director)
Fortune is incredibly excited and proud to be introducing this ground-breaking initiative, but to implement it we need your help.
We are seeking $10,000 to support the scholarship recipients while working here at Fortune. Your donations will go directly towards supporting these talented young professionals as they forge their careers in the arts.
Can you help Fortune give these talented young artists the opportunity of a lifetime?
