FOR THE PEOPLE, BY THE PEOPLE
Brown Pride | Multi Discipline
The Project
Brown Pride is thrilled to introduce a festival that brings South Auckland’s creativity and heritage to center stage. Set against the lively backdrop of our community, this event will showcase powerful cultural expressions through traditional dances, rap, singing, and hip-hop dance. It’s a vibrant celebration designed to highlight the unique artistic talents within South Auckland.
As a free, inclusive event, this festival will draw families and friends from across Auckland, fostering unity and pride through shared cultural appreciation. Attendees can also indulge in South Auckland’s culinary flavors, with local food stalls adding a delicious taste of our neighborhood’s diversity.
Through Boosted funding, we aim to make this festival an annual fixture that not only celebrates South Auckland’s artistic excellence but also strengthens community connections. Your support will help bring this vision to life, enabling us to celebrate our heritage, empower local talents, and create a legacy of creativity that uplifts our community.
The Team
Behind this vibrant festival is the Brown Pride community, a collective dedicated to empowering and celebrating the talent and culture of South Auckland. At the heart of our event are our own Samoan dance group, Aloalii, who will bring traditional dance to the stage with authenticity and passion, capturing the rich heritage of our roots.
Adding to the energy, our 216 Records team will showcase local musical talents, bringing a mix of genres and voices that reflect the diversity of South Auckland's music scene. Together with other local performers and creatives, Brown Pride aims to create a memorable experience that honors our community’s artistic spirit and cultural pride.

The Details
Our festival is an immersive celebration of South Auckland's diverse talents, bringing together our community’s best in cultural, musical, and culinary arts. Set to take place either at the end of this year or early next, depending on funding and group availability, this festival will spotlight traditional and contemporary performances that honor our local culture and creativity.
The event will feature our very own Samoan dance group, Aloalii, who will perform dances that resonate with cultural heritage and pride. Additionally, the talents from 216 Records will bring a powerful music lineup that spans rap, R&B, and other genres, reflecting the vibrant energy of our neighborhood. This mix of performances aims to capture the unique blend of tradition and modernity that defines South Auckland.
Beyond performances, the festival will also include food stalls run by local vendors, offering attendees an authentic taste of our community's culinary diversity. By keeping the festival free, we aim to create an inclusive environment where families and friends can come together to experience the artistry and culture of our region.
This project is not just an event; it’s a mission to uplift, celebrate, and connect our community through shared artistic expression. Through Boosted funding, we hope to build a festival that not only entertains but strengthens cultural pride and unity in South Auckland.
The Impact
This festival is more than an event; it’s a platform for South Auckland’s voices, stories, and cultural heritage to shine. In a community where artistic expression is deeply intertwined with identity and pride, this festival offers a rare opportunity to amplify local talent and showcase the beauty and diversity that makes South Auckland unique.
By supporting this festival, our community can uplift local dancers, musicians, and creatives who rarely have access to such a prominent platform. The Samoan dance group Aloalii, 216 Records, and other performers represent the heart of our neighborhood—resilient, talented, and passionate. Each performance will not only entertain but will also strengthen cultural pride, particularly for youth who often feel underrepresented.
Your backing will turn this vision into a free, family-friendly experience, making the arts accessible to everyone, regardless of background. Together, we can build a festival that not only celebrates talent but also fosters unity, confidence, and pride within South Auckland, leaving a lasting legacy for years to come.
This is our chance to tell our own stories, celebrate our heritage, and inspire future generations to take pride in who they are.
