Fire Knife Siva - A Journey to Samoa

Kia Ora, Talofa 

We are a group of Siva Afi warriors who are fundraising to compete in the 2023 Siva Afi Competition in Samoa. We range in age from 10 to 16 and all have some Samoan blood running through us. Siva Afi has been a way for us to connect with our Samoan culture, and we would love to be able to spend time in Samoa sharing and learning new skills that we will take through the rest of our lives.

With this funding we would use it for three main things 

• Uniforms being things such as formal puletasi and ie faitaga for the team. Some merchandise to give away as meaalofa for the villages we visit.
• Knives for each performer, as its an international competition fire knives have to meet competition regulations, each competitor must have one single and a double set of knives total cost for all 3 is around $800 New Zealand dollars.
• Transportation hire to allow for us to travel as a group to and from competition along with the ability to go and explore the island allowing for our tamaiti to connect and learn about their culture and heritage.
