Art with purpose - Junction Magazine
I have an article in Junction magazine which you can read HERE
It is important for our stories to be told, especially around the ominous topic of war.
My boosted fund raise is going well. Thank you to all those who have donated. I really do appreciate your support, as a confirmation of how important it is to tell our stories.
Any amount from 5, 10 to 40 or 50 dollars helps towards realising this project. Every dollar donated is reciprocated with the same value from Creative New Zealand.
I think it is important to tell our stories around how war can affect generations continuously. War is not an easy subject to consider as an artist.
Men seek to validate heroic acts, to validate the call to arms. We re-inact past battles, paint historic victories and pin badges on our soldiers.
But what of the individual stories? What about the family album? The pilots who died in a country thousands of miles away from loved ones. The solider buried in a blood soaked earth.
It will always be this way. War.
It is what I try to talk about when I work in this field. I am planing to put together a multi disciplinary exhibition starting with a lithograph around the WW2 pilots. Those who know my work will understand the scope I can take within an exhibition space. There is much more to come and a lot of work to be done!
Thank you for your support.
