Family Familiarity
Kia Ora! Our FILM210 cohort from Te Herenga Waka Victoria University of Wellington are seeking funding for Family Familiarity, a short 4 minute film. In order to make this film the best it possibly can, we are fundraising for production costs and Koha for our amazing actors!
Logline:
Family Familiarity follows two cousins who are mourning the loss of a third cousin. The conversation devolves from saying nice things about her to criticising her, before it is revealed that they were all acting.
Synopsis:
Family Familiarity follows three female cousins in their mid-teens. The film begins with two of the cousins walking into a room where the third cousin lays in a coffin. As the cousins look at their deceased family member, they start talking about some of the good things they remember about her. They then start to criticise how she is presented in the coffin, her make up isn’t right, she would never wear that colour nail polish. After a more embarrassing criticism the third cousin sits up and tells her cousins off. It’s revealed that they were all acting the whole time and the coffin was just a Halloween prop. One of the cousins tells the third to get out of the coffin saying it’s her turn to play dead.
