FAFSWAG AT EMERGENCY
FAFSWAG | Visual Art
Overview
FAFSWAG Arts Collective have been formally invited by Emergency Art Gallery in Vevey Switzerland to re-stage the work entitle 'Subordinate Tissue'. Commissioned in 2018 for Auckland's first performance arts festival, hosted at Silo 6 in Wynyard Quarter on Auckland's Waterfront, under the title Acts of Passage curated by artistic director for Te Tuhi Centre for the Arts - Gabriela Salgado.
Subordinate Tissue is a collaborative interdisciplinary moving image and dual performance artwork that rigorously challenges modern notions of gendered Pacific identity and the politics of public space. https://fafswag.com/subordinate-tissue/
The work will be staged as a series of video installations and live activations, accompanied by a eight day public programme of artists talks, live performances and additional showcases of FAFSWAG content and curated material from our broader Indigenous Queer arts community networks.
We are seeking $3,000.00 financial support for 5 artists to attend the exhibition opening and deliver our 8 day public programme.
Subordinate Tissue is created by FAFSWAG artists Pati Solomona Tyrell, Akashi Fisi'inaua and Tanu Gago and redeveloped for touring with Moe Laga and Manu Ha'apai Vae'atangitau.
