The Project

Kia ora! We are a group of young filmmakers and we need your support to help create our new film Eurydice

Synopsis:

Eurydice is a topical science fiction short film that reveals the bleak realities of a future where all creativity and expression is absorbed by technology. The film follows the story of archeologists Dr. Ophelia Woods and Dr. Eric Vaughn as they come across an incredible discovery: the last painting made by human hands.

Will they follow their obligation and give it to the machine?

About us:

This film is a final creative project for our degree in film production at Victoria University of Wellington and one we hope to enter in festivals. Eurydice is a place where aspiring filmmakers from across the university are coming together to develop our skills and have new experiences. We’ve got a wonderful team already into pre-production, and we need your help to bring our vision to life (but not literally).

As this a student film, we are very limited on budget and resources. All donations will be going towards expenses like catering, festival entry, and paying actors. We believe it is important to provide some financial compensation to our actors braving a dig site, and for our cast and crew to be well-fed and happy.

Any contributions would be greatly appreciated. Even just sharing our page with your friends would be a tremendous help. As a donor you will get full credit for your donation and be a part of the behind the scenes process of a movie. We would be so grateful to have you on board as we embark on this journey!

Cast will be announced soon! Follow our Instagram for exciting behind the scenes updates as we go!

Meet the Team!

Director: Acacia Wong

Hi everyone, I am super excited and grateful to be able to direct this film and help bring this vision to life! I am in my third year of university majoring in English Literature and Film Production, and so I am in love with the creative process: whether that is scriptwriting, the production aspect of filmmaking, or working with a group of people that love what they do as much as I do. I will throw my all into this project and am so excited to be working with this devoted and talented crew to bring Eurydice to the screen!

Writer/Sound: Hamish O’Malley-King

I am a painter, filmmaker, and student, based in Wellington. Raised in Dunedin amongst some super creative folks, art is an important part of my life. Like many young creatives, the potential danger of AI has become increasingly worrying to me. This led me to write Eurydice, a film about humanity, love, and expression set against a backdrop of brutal and unrelenting technological progression.
