"Eat Better, Always" - Short Comedy/Horror
Max Lloyd-Bell | Film
The Project
‘Eat Better, Always’ is a short film which follows the beginning of a relentless cycle between a famous health-food chef and an unassuming young woman named Lisa. Her night-in on the couch quickly takes a turn for the surreal, when the famous chef Gary Alexander begins a cycle of home invasions. His mission: to save us all from bad food and high prices, no matter what. Will Lisa survive this nightmare of unsolicited advice?
WHY?
The aim of our film is to highlight the overwhelming cycle of hype around the newest health-food crazes, and how ridiculous it can become. If you have ever felt as though you are being bombarded with healthy-food guidance you cannot escape, then you will know just how fed up our main character is feeling. On a broader level, we aim to acknowledge the often comical way in which the food industries advertise the latest quinoa or coconut oil, and how much of a burden the idea of food can be in modern times.
WHO'S THE CREW?
This short film is written and directed by Max Lloyd-Bell, and produced by Alana Tele.
We have a passionate team to help us along the way. This includes James Nicholson as our Executive Producer, who is an experienced film-maker and lecturer with AUT. Along with this, we have Jayden Flemming as our Cinematographer, Ryan Trehy as Assistant Director, Hannah D’Offizi in charge of Sound, and James Henry-Mather for Lighting design.
Although this film is part of the completion of our Screen Production Major at AUT, it is also our chance to enter the world of film and show film lovers why we love to create. We are passionate about what we do and the stories we tell. The funds raised from this will be 100% dedicated to making sure our film becomes the ridiculous reality we hope it to be. Our team realises the COVID-19 Alert levels may shift throughout this time, and we will work to ensure we stay safe and produce our film only within the recommended health guidelines.
We are counting on you, the generous donor, to make our dream a reality. Any contribution, no matter how small, is appreciated greatly. Our team is passionate about our creation, and we need you to help us get there. Plus, all donations qualify for a 33% tax refund!
Eat Better, Always. Max and Alana.
*Filming will commence once Auckland's COVID-19 lockdown is lifted and it is safe to do so as per industry guidelines**
