Duck Death and the Tulip
Little Dog Barking Theatre | Theatre
The Project
Based on the best selling book by German Illustrator Wolf Erlbruch and adapted into English by New Zealand's Gecko Press, Duck, Death and the Tulip tells a strange but heart warming story of a Duck who strikes up a friendship with Death. It is a gentle and philosophical story, which asks many questions but does not purport to give answers. It is religiously neutral. It is also startlingly original and funny and lends itself to a thoughtful theatre presentation. A play about life.
Adapted for the Stage by Peter Wilson, directed by Nina Nawalowalo, and with music by Gareth Farr, the production received critical acclaim at the 2013 Capital E New Zealand Arts Festival for Children, and The Nelson and Tauranga Arts Festivals. It has now been invited to perform at the Summer Hall Children's programme as part of the 2014 Edinburgh Fringe Festival.
The company will receive funding for Edinburgh from Creative New Zealand towards airfares and freight costs, but we need to raise additional funds to go toward marketing and publicity costs, as well as our accommodation, meals and artists fees while resident in Edinburgh.
Our season in Edinburgh will span three weeks, allowing opportunities for European and United Kingdom presenters and producers to see the work of Little Dog Barking Theatre. The experience will give the work of this small but exciting New Zealand company an New Zealand focus.
We look forward to your help, and no matter how small the donation it will be another step toward our journey to Edinburgh and the largest theatre Festival in the world.
