The Project
INTRODUCTION
Kia ora, my name is Eli Pomeroy, Producer for Samuel Richardson's latest project, Deep in the Willow. Alongside a passionate team of student filmmakers, we are working hard to bring this thrilling short film to life. Driven by the passion and commitment of our team, we are confident that Deep in the Willow has the potential to be a truly memorable cinematic experience with themes and aesthetics of films such as Jordan Peele’s Get Out, and Ari Aster’s Midsommar.
OUR FILM
Deep in the Willow is a 12-minute psychological thriller that follows Connor, who, after surviving a devastating car crash, finds himself in the care of Dr. Holden. What begins as an offer of refuge soon unravels into something far more sinister, as Connor realizes that his presence there is no accident. He must confront buried emotions and terrifying truths. This film promises a tense, emotional journey that keeps the audience questioning everything.
At its core, Deep in the Willow is more than just a thriller. It’s a deep exploration of grief, shame, and the internal battles many people face. Through its narrative, the film highlights the importance of mental health, emphasizing that everyone carries their own struggles, some visible, some hidden, but no one has to face them alone.
In addition to its powerful message, the film will showcase the breathtaking beauty of New Zealand's landscapes through stunning cinematography and creative framing. This not only enriches the story visually but will also resonate with audiences at international film festivals, adding a distinct cultural and artistic touch.
