Darkest Light - Feature Film

If I asked you to recall your fondest memories of going to the movies, what stands out? For me, it’s the suspense of sitting in a crowded theatre as the lights go down, and letting the opening sequence of the film start to absorb me in communal anticipation.

About the film:

‘Darkest Light’ is a crime thriller feature-film set in Wellington, New Zealand.

After the ominous murder of a loved-one takes place inside of Detective David King’s own home, Psychic Investigator Grace Lee gets caught-up in the aftermath. With no signs of a break-in, the evidence seemingly points to one man. Alliances are formed, enemies are made, and everything our central characters believed they understood about their world is destroyed.

The story has all the classic thriller elements that come with the territory of the genre, but more than that it is a performance driven film that revolves around the personal drama of its characters. It deals with tragedy, trust, relationships, and of course a bit of detective work too.

Actors and film technicians can only survive on their passion of filmmaking for so long, and eventually they need a bit of pocket-money to go with it. Therefore we need your help to ensure our team is paid fairly for their time and involvement, and to keep them smiling.

To show you I mean it, I’ll be putting forth my own money and match your donations up to the value of the total target. In other words it’ll be a 50/50 split.

Why this film matters:

I very strongly believe in nurturing the Arts, especially within our community. This is an independently produced production, and the aim is to grant the team an avenue for creative expression through cinematic storytelling in a local context.

Ultimately, my intention with ‘Darkest Light’ is to serve up a piece of entertainment that allows you to lean-back and relax, then lean-forward and immerse yourself in a thrill-ride. Going to the cinema should be exciting and I endeavour to bring some excitement to a silver-screen near you.
