Daffodils - Traverse Theatre Festival Edinburgh
Bullet Heart Club | Theatre
Overview
From small beginnings to an iconic New Zealand stage. Help us take Daffodils to the world's most famous arts festival.
OUR JOURNEY... started with a true story from our own backyard. Based on the Bright family from Hamilton, Daffodils is about Rose and Eric. He was a teddy boy, she was a farm girl. They met at the lake by the daffodils. Same place Eric's parents met 20 years earlier. Fate? Perhaps.
Daffodils remixes iconic NZ songs - from Jordan Luck to Dave Dobbyn, Bic Runga to The Mint Chicks. We premiered at Q Theatre's Loft in 2014, with Stephanie Brown, Colleen Davis, Todd Emerson, Fen Ikner and Abraham Kunin.
Thanks to kiwis across the country we've been able to play in 12 cities around NZ, sold out 3 times in Auckland and have toured across the ditch.
OUR BIGGEST GIG TO DATE... Daffodils has been selected to play at the iconic Traverse Theatre this August, as part of the Edinburgh Festival Fringe. We will be performing 21 shows in 24 days. It's been a dream of ours to play at the Traverse, as it is a theatre we greatly admire, a place that has launched some of our favourite New Zealand artists.
HOW YOU CAN HELP... Thanks to Creative New Zealand, we have received a grant to cover travel costs. However, we still have a massive amount to raise to get the show up. We need your support to help us cover accommodation for 9 people for a whole month in Scotland, as well as sound and technical equipment hire. With these things in place, we know we can present Daffodils at it's best.
A donation of any amount, big or small, would mean the world to us.
Dame Jenny Gibbs has very generously come on board as a key donor for Daffodils. Dame Jenny Gibbs will match every dollar for dollar up to $5,000. Thank you Dame Jenny Gibbs for supporting us on this big adventure.
Thank you!
